San Polo is a small district located in Venice, Italy. San Polo is a wonderful place to choose a holiday apartment, as the area is close to many fine attractions and great restaurants. The district is located on the Grand Canal which means that visitors staying in the area get a picturesque view of Venice. The atmosphere in San Polo is relatively lively, as there are many bustling streets containing shops and fine eateries filled with tourists and locals.

Attractions in San Polo

San Polo has a variety of interesting things to see and do. The Chiesa di San Rocco, or the church of Saint Roch as it is also known, is a stunning Roman Catholic Church located in the San Polo district. The church was first built in 1508, but it saw significant renovations in the 1700s. Now the church is a beautiful example of renaissance architecture. Inside, the church showcases paintings from famous Venetian artist Tintoretto. San Polo is also home to the San Giacomo di Rialto church, which is said to be one of the oldest churches in Venice and the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, or the Frari as it is also known. The Frari, which was built in the 1400s, is one of the most stunning churches in Venice. Aside from its stunning architecture the church's artwork also attracts visitors. The church features artwork from famous artists such as Titian, Girolamo Campagna, Giovanni Bellini, Bartolomeo Vivarini and more.

Restaurants in and Around San Polo

Those staying in San Polo apartments will be near to the many fine restaurants that the city of Venice has to offer. In Venice tourists can choose to eat at many excellent restaurants. The All'Arco is the perfect place to go for breakfast or lunch and for those looking to sample some traditional Italian cuisine. The Osteria Antico Giardinetto is a great place to go for fresh seafood. They serve dishes such as Venetian style mixed seafood appetizers, sauted muscles and clams and tuna steak with balsamic vinegar.
