Sofia's Draglevtsi quarter is located in the southwestern part of the city, at the foot of Vitosha mountain. This chic area takes its name from the nearly 700 year-old Dragalevtsi Monastery located here. The monastery hosts frescoes dating back to the 15th century, as well as many paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries. Dragalevtsi makes a great base of operations to explore Mount Vitosha, as a chairlift connects the quarter directly to the ski slopes up in the mountain.

The Boyana district is located south of the city centre. Its proximity to Mount Vitosha makes it a great option to explore the mountain park and resort. The Boyana waterfalls and Boyana lake are also found nearby, making Boyana a great base of operations for hiking tours and nature walks. The Boyana Church was built in the 10th century, and hosts frescoes that span the illustrious history of the church. Boyana Church is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.
