Vacation Rental Description
Villa Amedeo is situated in Fontane Bianche, a bathing area in the southeast of Sicily, only 15 km south of Syracuse. The villa distances 900 meters from a beautiful sandy beach. The pool is in use from the 15th March to 15 November. Fontane Bianche is about 50 minutes from Catania airport and 15 minutes from Syracuse by car. There are food shops and several restaurants in the area. Its proximity to the stunning baroque towns of Syracuse, Noto and Palazzolo Acreide also make it an excellent base for a cultural exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage area.
Villa Amedeo’s furnishings and fittings have been chosen with great care. On the lower floor is a bedroom with private bathroom (toilet, bidet and shower), a large kitchen, a toilet, a living room with a fireplace and a sofa bed. The upper floor consists of three bedrooms and a bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have direct access to terraces. All rooms have air-conditioning. The garden and its terraces have several areas, which remain cool and shaded throughout the day, and during the summer both lunch and dinner can be taken outdoors. The terrace is equipped with table and chairs, a barbeque and a wood oven. Beside the pool is a changing room with bathroom and shower and an outside kitchen.
Because of the presence of air-contioning and a fireplace, the house offers a pleasant stay also in low season.
About Sicily Siracusa
Fontane Bianche
Summer holidays in Fontane Bianche focus firmly on sand and sea. So if you love loafing on a sunlounger this seaside resort is your kind of place. Shops, bars, trattorias, lidos and gelateria strung along a mile-long seashore. But it's the beach that really deserves attention. Boasting creamy sands and translucent seas, it's got everything sunbathers and swimmers could want, including watersports and clear-watered coves for snorkelling. Fontane Bianche distance only 15 km from the beautiful city of Syracuse with a lot of restaurants, bars, theaters, promenades. Syracsue is one of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean and famous for its Ancient Greek ruins. The heart of modern Syracuse lies in its historical quarter, situated on the peninsula of Ortigia.
Supermarkets and groceries can be found in the nearby village called Cassibile (1 km).
Marzamemi and coastal reserve Vendicari
Heading south towards the south-eastern tip of Sicily, you find the fishing village Marzamemi where the tradition of all things marine is still very much alive. Marzamemi offers a combination of the area’s natural beaches and the vibrancy of an authentic coastal village with good fishrestaurants, pizzerias and shops selling delicious local produce such as locally caught and processed tuna and swordfish or the famous cherry tomatoes from nearby Pachino. San Lorenzo, which lies 2 km to the north of Marzamemi, marks the beginning of one of the most beautiful stretches of the Sicilian coast. Here the shore is characterised by golden sand beaches, turquoise seas and white limestone rocks. San Lorenzo borders on the natural reserve of ‘Vendicari’ with breathtaking sea views, flora and fauna, exotic beaches and Byzantine ruins. It is a veritable oasis of rest and tranquillity for an array of bird species. Also nearby are the Roman floor mosaics of Villa Tellaro, depicting hunting scenes.
Baroque towns of Val di Noto
Noto, a magnificent little city famous for its stunning Baroque architecture, lies 10 kilometres away. You can’t miss the traditional afternoon stroll down its main street. Noto is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site 'Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto'.
Generally listed as one of the 'must-see' tourist attractions of this part of Sicily, Noto is a pleasant and attractive little town, with a historic centre that is composed almost entirely of crumbling Baroque palaces, churches and houses. The town's striking architectural coherence is due to the major earthquake that struck Sicily in 1693. The old town of Noto was almost completely destroyed, and it was decided to to reconstruct a splendid new town several miles away. Thus Noto was rebuilt on its present site, carefully designed for functionality and architectural harmony. Other 'Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto' are Caltagirone, Catania, Modica, Palazzolo Acreide, Ragusa and Scicli.
