The Pantheon is famous because it is one of the world's oldest buildings, having been built by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa between 25 and 27 BC. Hadrian rebuilt it somewhere around 125 BC. The Pantheon is certainly among the many things that history buff will want to see when in this part of Rome, and should you choose to stay in a Pantheon apartment you will be in the center of Rome with many great delights at your doorstep.

Restaurants and Shopping in the Pantheon area of Rome
In the immediate vicinity of the Pantheon is the Piazza della Rotunda. Here, you can enjoy a selection of delicious Roman ice-cream shops and restaurants all framed by the picturesque, distinctive beauty of Rome itself. Diners are able to eat outdoors where they can revel in the neighborhood's unique beauty and charming, narrow streets. These days the plaza in front of the Pantheon is partly closed to traffic so that visitors can wander around safely. Restaurants in the Piazza della Rotunda include Di Rienzo, which is considered to be the top café on the Rotunda. It is open from 7AM to 2AM.

Other Roman Historical Attractions in the Pantheon area
Rome is ancient, and as a result there is no shortage of ancient sights for the traveler to see. In the vicinity of the Pantheon, there is also the Piazza Navona, where chariot races where once held. It is marked by its circular shape and a striking fountain, called Fountain of the Four Rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fumi) at its center. Slightly further away and in the opposite direction, is the famous 85 foot tall Trevi fountain, where countless movies have been filmed.
