Provence Villa: Buoux

This holiday villa in Provence faces south across a vast and spectacular valley, planted with truffle oaks and lavender, just two minutes from the village of Buoux in the Luberon National Park. Seemingly miles from anywhere with its wide-open spaces, tranquility and wildlife, this stone villa is located between the market town of Apt and the medieval town of Lourmarin with its galleries and restaurants.
 
The surrounding countryside is very well known for rock climbing and hiking and with a fabulous old Chateau and an extraordinary medieval fort nearby, the area is also an artist's delight.
 
The large open plan living area is well equipped with a comfortable sofa, CD player and dining facilities for the occupants.  There’s also a fireplace at one end, and French doors leading out onto the terrace. The kitchen is very well equipped, with everything that you’re likely to need for self-catering.

There are two bedrooms with a queen-sized bed, (or twin beds) and another bedroom with twin beds. There are two bathrooms in this Provence villa: one bathroom with sink and WC, and a shower room with WC.  These are both attached to the bedrooms.

There’s a covered terrace, with patio furniture and a BBQ, allowing you to eat al fresco during the long summer evening. Also  there is a ping-pong table and facilities for boules. The villa itself is set in 120ha of lavender fields and truffle oak woodland, providing a great sense of being in the country. The villa has its own swimming pool, (10m x 4m), which is fenced to ensure that toddlers and small children do not wander into it.
 

The scenery around this holiday villa in Provence is stunning.  There are views in all directions and the property is ideally placed for countryside walks.  There are many Regional summer festivities: Theatre in Avignon, Opera in Aix and Orange, Jazz festival in La Roque d’Antheron and many antique fairs and flea markets.
 
There is Tennis court available in Apt or Bonnieux, horseback riding in Apt, mountain bikes for rent in Bonnieux.  There are also some excellent restaurants in the area and inparticular, in Buoux, the Auberge de la Loube.  If you like the idea of a visit to the coast, in one day you can easily go to the coast, take a swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean and return in the early evening.
