At the end of the square stands Jan Hus monument. Departing from the Stare Mesto accommodation for a tour of Old Town means wearing the proper shoes for walking. There is not much public transportation in the area. Cabs are available, but it's just a 15 minute stroll from Namesti Republiky to Staromestka, so it's not really worth the trouble of finding a vehicle for hire. For the eclectic, LaVeranda offers seasonal specials and aphrodisiac menus. It's considered a secret well-kept from the tourists, but is perfect for the holiday-maker looking for an elegant dining spot. The best known cafe in Stare Mesto is Kavarna Slaviai. It offers eastern European food and the diner can sightsee during the meal. Choose a seat with a view of the Vltava, Prague Castle or the National Theater as plans are made for the holiday activities for the following day.
