It is a charming neighbourhood to visit and offers 2 great museums and the final resting place of Napoleon.  Two of the most representative symbols of the capital, The Eiffel Tower and the Hotel des Invalides are located here.  These areas were mainly developed in the 19^th century on unchartered land and conducive to the construction of imposing buildings.

To the east of the Invalides, stands the National Assembly and many mansions now house embassies.

This area also has two large green areas, The Champ de Mars and the Invalides, which is a wide and long, open-lawn area on the north side of the Hotel des Invalides that extends to the Seine River.  The Esplanade is one of the more open spaces in Paris and is bordered by the French Foreign Ministry and the home office of Air France.  It is regularly used for picnics, sunning, soccer games and rollerblading.

Here there are a complex of buildings in the 7^th arrondissement of Paris containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building's original purpose.

The Avenue du Maréchal Gallieni runs north and south through the Esplanade, dividing it into 2 equal halves. Three other streets cross it from east to west before it reaches Quai d'Orsay at the river's edge.

This self-contained accommodation in Invalides is also close to the ornate, late, 19^th-century bridge, Pont Alexandre III which leads to the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais and then on to the Avenue des Champs-Elysées.
