The Toyota Children's Learning Garden was established as part of the New York City Restoration Project, and is designed with education in mind. The garden is designed with the intent of teaching children about plants, and was landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh's brainchild. Both the local parks and this Learning Garden will be very accessible from any of the East Village's local hotels. For those looking for a taste of the local arts scene, look no further than the long-running off-Broadway performance of Stomp! There's the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival in August, and the Bowery Ballroom, which features a variety of musical performances. In short, the East Village boasts a history which is breathtaking and is leading into a wonderfully vibrant future thanks to movements like the New York City Restoration Project.
