NO OKTOBERFEST 2008 AVAILABILITY. Some dates available for OFest 2009.Fully rennovated in the Summer of 2005, your apartment has been appointed with tasteful furniture of quality with the conveniences of home. Located on the ground floor with its own private entrance, the apartment offers you two very large rooms in an L-shape layout. With more than 80 square meters (approx 900 square feet), the apartment is large enough for four guests to stay comfortably. From the entrance you enter the main room which has the kitchen, dining area, as well as the TV area. In front of the TV is a quality fold-down sofa bed which sleeps even the most picky of sleepers (my father being one of them). From the entrance to the right leads to the bathroom with a shower and large-capacity washing machine as well as the kitchen with its large refridgerator.
To the left you walk past the living area and into the double-sized bedroom with its reading corner equipped with a stylish L-shaped sofa as well as work desk and chair. The bed is of very solid steel construction with new mattresses. The large wardrobe will hold all of your colthes and also has the iron and ironing board inside.
The bathroom is not photographed as the layout, an L-shape, does not permit me to scrunch myself up small enough to get a shot which is any good. Trust me, the bathroom has a nice layout and can be easily be used by two people at once.
The apartment is ideal for two couples or a couple traveling with children. The DVD plays all DVD regions so our guests from Asia Pacific and North America should be sure to bring along their childrens' favorite films.
Parking available in nearby parking garages, first-come-first-served. Finding a spot is not too difficult, however.
The apartment is very quiet and located in one of Munich's most attractive neighborhoods, the Glockenbachviertel. The house was built in 1865, the year the American War Between the States ended.
Your hosts are an American/German couple who look forward to welcoming you to Munich!
The apartment is located in Munich's GLOCKENBACHVIERTEL and is around the corner from the SENDLINGER TOR transportation hub. At Sendlinger Tor (one of the city's remaining gates) several bus, tram and underground/subway lines intersect. From here you can easily hop to any part of the city as well as Bavaria and the rest of Germany. The Glockenbachviertel is in the city center and has always been popular with artists, musicians, free-thinkers, poets, authors, and even some nice business men and women. Restaurants (be sure to try Myra, four doors down), shopping (from cheap to "if you have to ask"), Theatre (ok, speaking German will help), Opera (great music, but does anyone understand what they are singing?), and cinema (English too!) are all an easy walk or short bus, tram, or subway ride away. A large grocery store is located just outside the front door and to the right, while an ample chemist/drug store is out the door and to the left.
The historic city center (Marienplatz) is a short 8 minute walk or one underground stop away. The Oktoberfest fairgrounds are a 12 minute walk or one underground stop away. When you depart you will be glad you stayed in the Pestalozzistrasse apartment!
