Introducing the United Arab EmiratesThe United Arab Emirates lies on the south-east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. While Abu Dhabi is the capital city, Dubai has taken the world by storm, in terms of its innovative skyscrapers, high-tech infrastructure and lavish shopping malls. Its souqs or marketplaces are filled with valuable souvenirs like hookahs for smoking shisha, silver filigreed urns and the most beautiful hand-woven carpets and rugs. Ras-al-Khaimah has coral beaches while Ajman, Fujairah and Umm-al-Quwain have a number of interesting monuments. The local women are seen in full-length black cloaks calls abayas, while the men wear white dishdasha. Visitors are expected to dress modestly. The delicious traditional food includes kebabs and shawarma. It is worth buying fresh dates as well as some high quality exotic spices to take back home. The gold souks have a dazzling display of ornaments, while branded perfumes are available at a good price. Sports enthusiasts have a lot to keep them occupied while on vacation in the United Arab Emirates; they can choose from Formula 1 car racing, horse racing, camel racing, golf and tennis. This country truly has something for everyone.
