About Melbourne Other

The coastal township of Anglesea is located 110 km south west of Melbourne in the Surf Coast Shire. It's popular with families and features many outdoor activities. Accommodation options are plentiful to cope with the large population of holiday makers that descend on the town during the summer months.

Anglesea is situated on the Anglsea River inlet, boasts lovely beaches, coastal cliffs and is surrounded by vast areas of bushland. It's at the gateway to the Great Ocean Road which is one of the worlds premier driving experiences.

Being only a couple of hours drive from Melbourne it's a popular spot for day and weekend trips.

While the permanent population of Anglesea is only around 2000 it swells to 10 times that number during the peak summer months. This growth in population means that their are lots of accommodation options in the town. There's a lovely camp ground right on the beach, motels, hotel plus a huge range of holiday houses, cottages, flats etc.

Because of it's location, staying in Anglesea makes sense. 2 hours drive from Melbourne, half an hour to Lorne, One hour to Apollo Bay, half an hour to Geelong and one hour to the Car Ferry at Queenscliff.

Enjoy a relaxed getaway in Anglesea and pick from the wide variety of accommodation options in and around the town.

The town's golf course is a popular spot as it is has a permanent population of approx 500 kangaroos. You can view the kangaroos on the course even if you are not a golfer. Play a round of golf on the lovely treed fairways with kangaroos dotted around the course. The golf course also provides good quality meals at their restaurant even if you don't play golf.

The main beach is popular for swimming and is patrolled by the Anglesea Surf Lifesaving Club. It's often used by budding surfers to hone up their skills as the surf is usually moderate and not too big. Guvvo's beach just west of Pt Roadnight is a long wide beach that stretches several kilometers to Urhquarts Bluff. A quieter beach, a great place to walk the dog and a popular spot for the more serious surfers.
