Fox, a gastropub on Paul Street, is a fantastic place to eat or drink in an attractive yet friendly atmosphere - but be warned that it gets very busy on weekday evenings as locals drop in on their way home from work. If you're looking for more exotic food, Kingsland road is a treasure trove of Vietnamese restaurants. If you're spoilt for choice, head for Song Que Cafe, which was rated by the restaurant review website Zagat.com as the best of the bunch. An entertaining and cultural evening is on offer at The Foundry, a bar on Eastern Street, where the entertainment ranges from performance poetry to jazz music. If you venture down to the basement, you'll be treated to an art exhibition featuring works by local artists. Alternatively, you can go dancing at Herbal, an incredibly hip two-floor club on Kingsland Road. If you need some quiet time the next morning, you can take a short walk from your London Shoreditch holiday apartment to Bunhill Fields, an ancient graveyard which has miraculously survived among the rapidly shifting city landscape. The final resting place of writer William Blake, Bunhill Fields offers a rare haven of tranquility in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the big city. |
