About Istanbul Taksim

Cihangir is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Istanbul. The story of its name comes from the period of Ottoman Empire. It has been called "Cihangir" because of Cihangir Mosque,which was built by very famous Ottoman engineer Mimar Sinan in 1559 in memory of Prince Cihangir, the son of Ottoman Sultan Kanuni, also known as Magnificent Suleyman. Cihangir is a neighborhood of well-maintained apartment buildings dating from the 1920's-1950's. Situated in the heart of Beyoglu and Taksim which is accepted as the center (downtown) of Istanbul.Cihangir, being in the heart of Istanbul, is a beautiful neighborhood of colorful bow windowed houses and quiet streets.
