Best Breakfast Indulgences in Hollywood
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet with our busy schedules and hectic lives it’s fair to say it has now become the most overlooked. But not when you’re on holiday! Indulge in some seriously wicked early morning yumminess whilst on a Los Angeles vacation and get your days started in style. Book a holiday apartment in Hollywood and head to these heavenly eateries…your taste buds will love you for it.
The Griddle Café, 7916 Sunset Blvd
If you need only one more reason to book a Hollywood apartment, the Griddle Café would have to be it. Now this place may not be for the faint hearted, and there is a certain kind of psychological training needed to tackle a full gourmet breakfast here, but we promise you it will be worth the effort.
Regarded locally as imply ‘the best breakfast joint in Hollywood’, the Griddle Café shuns the low-carb trend and fills you up with what can only be described as THE best pancake stack you’re likely to savour…anytime, anywhere. The amazing flavour combinations, and sheer size of their menu (almost 20 different types to choose from), are incentive enough to indulge whilst on a Hollywood vacation. Go for gold and try the “Yellow Brick Road” variety, a stack of butterscotch fluffy clouds filled with caramel, walnuts and topped with whipped cream. If you happen to yell out “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore” upon your first bite, take heart, it happened to us too…
Servings are beyond generous and the service tops. The queue can get a tad long on Sundays but hang in there!
The best part about the Griddle is that they sell their pancake mixes ready-to-go, so if you book self-catering accommodation this is a great way to take the Griddle flavours home, day after day.
The Hollywood Corner, 1156 N Highland Ave
If you’ve never considered starting your day with a Mexican feast, then you’ve obviously never been to The Hollywood Corner! For a truly Hollywood breakfast outing, and a chance to see and be seen, head to this trendy eatery and indulge your senses with a scrumptious breakfast taco or burrito. It’ll jump start the system, that’s for sure!
Homemade flour tortillas, cooked and toasted to perfection, are filled with scrambled eggs (that’s the breakfast part), spicy chorizo sausage and topped with mushy avocado, sour cream and copious amounts of chilli salsa. Yum yum. For a healthier option, go for the veggie burrito which is made with soyrizo instead! There are also four different types of omelettes to choose from and eggs any-which-way you like. Freshly squeezed juices and plenty of aromatic coffees do a great job of complementing your feast.
Enjoy the outdoor terrace and indulge in food, and people watching. The Corner is open 7 days a week and is great for large groups or families with varying tastes.
Alcove Cafe & Bakery, 1929 Hillhurst Ave
OK fine, yes, we all need a super healthy breakfast option whilst on holiday blah blah blah…
Actually, to be honest, the Alcove Café and Bakery does a wicked job of dressing up healthy to look like a guilt-laden indulgence. This ‘green’ café offers only the best organically grown local produce and offers a myriad of options for those keen on a super healthy start to the day. The Alcove roasts its own coffee, crafts its own teas and even makes its own chocolate. Need we say more?
Their French toast with fig preserve is a signature dish and an ever present crowd pleaser. The generous menus covers all the basics, so you can still opt for pancakes, omelettes or toasted panini. If you want to still remind yourself that you’re on holidays, we suggest washing your breakfast down with a Bloody Mary.
