Vacation Rental Description
Located under the church of Aghi Anargyri with its wonderful bell tower, the Villa Ivi is a charming retreat from the hustle and bustle of Fira and Oia. Sheltered from the Cycladic winds, the traffic free village of Megalochori provides a peaceful and sought after alternative. The romantic Villa Ivi once provided the villagers with a safe haven from marauding pirates who invaded the island. Today the villa, with its cool vaulted interior, provides an enchanting holiday home.
Near to the picturesque village square with its Venetian architecture, the Villa Ivi is approached through painted blue doors which lead into a pretty and private cobbled courtyard. Olive trees in large terracotta pots add a lovely atmosphere as you enter and the outdoor heated Jacuzzi is perfect to relax in after a day at the beach.
Quant blue doors lead from the courtyard into the open-plan living area which houses the lounge, dining room and well equipped kitchen. The spacious master bedroom, with high domed ceiling has a view of the courtyard and a walk-in closet. A large bathroom, with modern amenities serves this bedroom.
The second bedroom has its own entrance from the courtyard. The double bedroom is of a comfortable size and a small flight of stairs lead to the en-suite bathroom with shower.
This is a great villa for two couples or a small family wanting a private retreat from which to explore the island.
About Greece Santorini
Regarding the location of Megalochori we
could say that is a lovely village located in the centre of Santorini, with
white painted houses, beautiful churches, narrow cobble streets and a quant
village atmosphere surrounded by vineyards. It provides a perfect base from
where to explore the island of Santorini. To get to the best beaches of the island (Perivolos, Vlyhada, Red Beach) is just
a 10 minutes’ drive. At the same distance is the capital (Fira). The village itself has 3 excellent restaurants
(one owned by our company called RAKI),a local bakery & a mini-market. You
can also enjoy a visit to the local winery Gavalas for wine tasting (2 minutes
distance from the villa).Closing I would say that Megalochori is a true reflection of the local Santorini experience!
