About Granada Other
Nestling among the olive groves of Tijola, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, the villa Castaño, is a quiet and peaceful retreat.
Two and a half kilometres from the market town of Orgiva, the white washed Berber villages, can be found clinging to the southern slopes of Spain’s highest mountain range. These were the last outposts of the Moors after the fall of Granada in the 16th century.
Made famous in the early 1900's by Gerald Brennan with his book "South from Granada" and more recently described by Chris Stewart in his best selling book "Driving Over Lemons" and his sequel “Parrot in a Pepper Tree”, this rural area offers peace and tranquillity with easy access to bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
Just one hour south of Granada and two hours east of Malaga, with the coast and golf only 35 minutes away and skiing in the winter, just 1 hour 15 minutes, the villa has been designed with the 16th century Alhambra Palace in mind, but with all the luxuries and comforts of the 21st century.
