Vacation Rental Description

SAUDADES is a private beach house, with resort facilities, located at the beach in Candolim, North Goa.

Candolim, famous for its stretch of clean and beautiful beach, is a verdant, laid-back, coastal village, that typifies the Goan attitude: the ideal place to escape to.

The house is a two floor structure, built in a split-level design:

The ground floor includes a sitting, dining area, lounge area, the guest bathroom, a well designed kitchen and an utility area in the back. The sitting and dining area is attractively furnished with comfortable sofas, rugs, lamp shades, bookcase, cable television with VCD/ACD and other accessories. A wooden dining table, topped with bevelled glass, seats six. The kitchen has beautiful red granite counters and is tiled all over and is fully equipped. 

A door in the kitchen takes one out into the backyard, where, come sunset, one can light up the barbecue. Here a little utility area, designed with granite, contains a sink and a washing machine. Hot water is available at both the kitchen and utility sinks. A wooded area stretches beyond the backyard compound wall. At the other end, the front area of the house begins with a HIGH BLACK GATE that opens into the garage and walkway. This section has been converted into a lounging area complete with table and chairs, loungers and a comfy swing. The entire space is covered with an awning. Two small ceiling fans provide cool air. A high wall made of palm matting, running the length of the compound, provides guests with the privacy they deserve.

The lounging area, a favourite with guests, is a cool place to stretch and relax after a sun soaked day at the beach. A typical goan balcao (balcony) overlooks this area and opens into the hall. On one side of the house a trimmed lawn stretches from the backyard to the front. The perimeter is lined with plants to give one a faraway-from-the-hustle-bustle-of-the-city-feel.

The upper floor has three air-conditioned bedrooms with bathrooms en suite. All bathrooms have hot water geysers and are fitted with both wall and ceiling tiles. Two bedrooms have bathtubs. The bedrooms are cozy and furnished with cable television, a double bed with a comfortable mattress and pillows, lampshades, paintings, wardrobe, telephone for local calls and a writing desk with mirror. One bedroom opens out on to a small terrace and one has a balcony that overlooks the garden. The third bedroom overlooks the wooded area in the back.

Although the locality is peaceful and crime free, the house is secured with iron grills and strong teak doors. A bolted down safety vault safeguards your passport, important documents and cash. 

For your safety and comfort, smoking is only permitted in the lounging area.

Ok, so you are thinking, blah, blah, will someone please tell us how far is the damn beach: Exactly 60 seconds after you have closed that HIGH BLACK GATE behind you.

About Goa Candolim

Candolim is one of the least congested beach localities in Goa. The house is in a quiet, residential location away from the crowds yet close to all amenities, like super market, restaurants,  cyber cafes, coffee shops, doctors, hospital and market.

Although the house is in Candolim, we are near the border with the neighbouring Calangute Village, so the night spots, cafes and pubs of Calangute and Baga are a only a short distance away.

A few steps from the house and you are on the clean and uncrowded Candolim beach. Take a  walk on the pristine beach without being jostled by the crowds or have a unhurried meal in one of the many shacks dotting the beach. Or just relax with a book on a beach bed. Happy Holidays.
