Relaxation in Sweden

Last September my family planned to have some relaxing vacation in one of Europe’s biggest recreation areas, Sweden. None of us expected that this would have been the best holidays we ever had.

We rented a very nice house near Stockholm to have all the silence we need combined with only 15 minutes to the city by car. In Sweden it is crucial to have a car! With only 20 inhabitants per km2 you will have a little problem to find somebody between the villages that could help you, if you are suffering from any problems. This sounds now a bit like in the movie “Wrong Turn”, but actually it is relaxing pure!

So as soon as we had access to our house I took out a map of the region and looked for nice lakes. I did not have to search for a long time (Sweden is next to Finland one of the lake-richest countries in Europe). My wife prepared some picnic and our son was already playing in the garden. Now I packed my fishing rods and the important accessories (a small fishing rod for my son) and ready prepared we spent an amazing day at a lonesome and azure lake without any stress and trouble… my wife laying in the sun and my son and I fishing… (okay, I was fishing, because my son decided after 15 minutes to leave me for discovering the beautiful bays around the lake).

The result in the end of the day was interesting. She had a nice sunburn, because of underestimating the Swedish sun, he found a huge variety of the distinctive stones that I had to carry home and I caught one fabulous pike of 61cm which was only my dinner, because my family has seen him alive and did not want to eat such a “cute” animal (when they started looking for a name I had to go…).

After one week enjoying this awesome place, its silence and stunning karma it was very hard to even think about going back to work and the daily routine, BUT for sure we know where we will be this September. You can book Stockholm holiday apartments with Holiday Velvet.
