Dublin, Ireland – Enjoying the evenings in Dublin

Dublin, the capital of Ireland, is worth a visit as it is a lively city, full of interesting tourist attractions. However, a visit to Dublin would not be complete if it did not include a pint or two in at least one of its famous Irish pubs. Each one of Dublin’s pubs offers a different and unique atmosphere, catering for different types of customers and moods. Many Dublin pubs also provide music and live entertainment.

In the centre of Dublin, the area most visited by tourists is Temple Bar, the trendiest area of Dublin, with a lot of restaurants, art galleries, shops and pubs. The atmosphere in Temple Bar is very lively. A pub I would recommend visiting in Temple Bar, is ‘The Porter House’, on Parliament Street, which is also a microbrewery and offers its own freshly brewed beers.

If you are staying in Dublin city centre, another area you can visit for ‘pub crawls’ is the zone between Grafton Street and George Street. This area is full of hip pubs, disco-pubs and clubs, catering especially for the young and the trendy crowds. Also, an area of Dublin with interesting old pubs, is the area around Stephen’s Green, Merrion Row and Baggot Street. One of the most eminent pubs here is in the Shelbourne Hotel, which is an historical landmark, as the hotel has been open since 1824 and it is here, in room 112, that the Irish Constitution was drafted in 1922.

If you are looking to escape from the city, there are some lovely country pubs at just a few minutes drive from Dublin city centre. One of such pubs is the Johnny Fox’s Pub in Glencullen, on the Dublin Mountains. The Johnny Fox’s Pub is one of the oldest in Ireland and it is considered the highest in the country. With its display of old tools and crafts it is almost a museum of rural life. Looking for accommodation and hotels in Dublin centre? Try the Mespil hotel in Dublin, Ireland.
