ABout Cyprus

Close to Turkey’s southern coast, Cyprus is the 3rd largest island in the Mediterranean and the legendary birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite. Cyprus has a range of mountains, enchanting coves, rocky coasts but also long golden sandy beaches. The Republic of Cyprus controls the South and the North is de facto Turkish, with the United Nation controlled green line dividing the 2 parts.

Nicosia (Lefkosia), the capital of Cyprus, is located in the center of the island and has two parts: one Turkish, one Greek divided by a demilitarized zone maintained by the United Nations. Nicosia has an unbeatable charm however, and to walk through the old city with its narrow streets and old houses is to step backwards in time. The two main streets of old Nicosia, Ledra and Onasagorou, are lined with shops of every type, and both streets are pedestrian-only.

Limassol in the South is the second largest city and has a great number of museums and archaeological sites. The city has 2 ports and sandy beaches. Only 6 miles Eat lie the well preserved ruins of Amathus, one of the most ancient royal cities of Cyprus.

Larnaka in the East of the island, is the closest city to the international airport. Its two main beaches Phinikoudes and McKenzie have been awarded for environmental cleanliness. On Larnaca Bay there are luxurious beach hotels and holiday apartments within all price ranges.

Kyrenia (Girne) is the most famous and popular town in North Cyprus with an immense Byzantine castle, a horseshoe shaped harbour, and many bars and restaurants.
