Hotel Description

In the hills above Ballena National Park is nestled Costa Rica’s smallest Jungle Boutique Hotel, Las Terrazas de Ballena.

Formerly the Balcon de Uvita and know for its spectacular ocean views of the “Whales Tale” coral reef and Caño Island. The newly opened Las Terrazas de Ballena has just completed a half million dollar renovation. Including furnishings inspired and imported from Thailand and a new road up the mountain to get there.

The three acre compound now has six Terrazas that look like they are floating in the jungle. Two terraces are an open air restaurant and lounge, three are private living spaces for the bungalows and one surrounds our tropical swimming pool and water fall.  All have the same spectacular view of the only Whale Park in Costa Rica.

The Jungle Bungalows

The three luxury suites can be rented as a private compound or individually. Two bungalows have Thai King Beds and queen day beds in each. The third has a queen bed. All suites are air-conditioned, with flat screen satellite TV.  Each bungalow has outdoor kitchenette & private terraza for sunsets and toucan watching.

The Pool terraza joins the three suites together and is a perfect place for soaking in the sun while watching a monkey or sloth goes by.

Terrazas Restaurant & Living Room Lounge

A one of a kind dining experience for the senses. The signature Bento Box has redefined dining in the area with a sampling of four entrees from the menu of international cuisine and comfort foods.

Enjoy relaxing on the couch in our Sunset Living Room or exhale and have a cocktail at our Buddha Bar. There is free wireless internet as well.

We have a full time concierge service ready to assist you in all your adventure planning whether it be a horseback ride to a waterfall, canopy tour, or river rafting, we can accommodate any adventure.

Our Terrazas event manager will be happy to prepare the compound for a private event or wedding.

Las Terrazas de Ballena is located in the heart of Uvita.  Our road is across from the gas station.  Simply follow the signs up where we will be waiting to greet you.  Registration for the bungalows is at the restaurant.
