Vacation Rental Description
Built in 1900, and entirely restored in 2003, arguably one of the most beautiful houses in Soustons, it is the largest property in the village, and has many qualities one would expect from a luxury residence. It boasts nine large en-suite bedrooms, a grand reception lounge and hall, spacious dining room, billiards room and anterooms, with high ceilings, original parquet floors and an impressive oak staircase.
The villa is set amongst 2.6 hectares of land, with a brand new heated swimming pool, tennis court, century old trees and beautiful mature gardens. The villa is fantastic and has been renovated tastefully and to a very high standard.
Ground floor
Outstanding lounge area with wood panelling, parquet floors, beautiful oak staircase, study with marble fireplace, sitting-room with marble fireplace opening onto a south facing terrace, dining-room with marble fireplace and north facing terrace, billiard room with marble fireplace, kitchen, toilet and washroom.
First floor
Hall area with wooden floors and sofa, 3 large en-suite bedrooms (two with marble fireplace, one with large terrace), large suite with two bedrooms, south facing balcony, marble fireplace, dressing room, bathroom, Jacuzzi bath, toilet and spacious east facing terrace. All rooms have their own Television, DVD player and stereo system.
Second floor
Hall area with wooden floors, 4 large en-suite bedrooms (one with Sauna and two with fireplace). All rooms have their own Television and DVD player.
Swimming pool
Private 15 x 7 metre brand new heated outdoor swimming pool including a automated security cover and glass panelled security barrier for children's safety. Surrounded by gardens and 90m2 of terrace with sun loungers and teak furniture for poolside dining, mature gardens with beautiful shrubs and trees including a built in BBQ area and summer kitchen. A pool house contains bar area, fridges, ice-cream freezer and a toilet and outside shower.
Tennis court
The full size court is in great condition, and even has an umpire's chair. Quality tennis racquets and new balls would even keep McEnroe happy!
Grounds
The villa sits right in the middle of a square estate within the village of Soustons but maintains a secluded feel, being separated from the road and other properties by mature trees on all sides. A variety of shrubs and hedges, flowers and lawns surround the villa with a small river bordering one edge of the grounds.
Basement
Several rooms comprising of a store for mountain bikes (free use for guests), laundry, garage, workshop, wine cellar and several additional stores.
Terraces
Stone steps lead to a south facing terrace at the entrance, a terrace on the dining area for garden breakfasts, a pool terrace of 90m2 for outside candlelit dining, BBQ lunches and entertaining for special events.
About Bordeaux Aquitaine Les Landes
South of Bordeaux begins the region of Les Landes. It feels like another world with the coast stretching virtually uninterrupted from the Gironde estuary all the way down to Soustons, Hossegor and Cap Breton before reaching the foothills of the Pyrenees and Basque country. It is remarkably unspoilt, open and natural as the coast is dominated by long stretches of sand washed by Atlantic ocean; in all there is more than 220km of coast-line from the Gironde estuary down to the border with Spain with a total of 55 supervised blue flag beaches. Climb the dunes and before you, stretching as far as the eye can see, lie the pine forests of Les Landes, 1100 km2 of pine forest planted during the 19th century.
Although the line of the coast may be straight, the variety it encompasses is huge: oyster beds and yachting marinas, fishing villages and vineyards, names of towns and half-timbered houses that seem (and once were) more English than French, the highest sand-dune in Europe, and where the Côte d'Argent turns – quite literally – into the Côte Basque, some of the Continent's best surfing.
