We are on the foothills of Montgo Natural Park on the outskirts of old Javea town (Costa Blanca, Spain). The villa looks to the north up onto Montgo and to the south looks over the valley towards Spanish villages full of character, we would like you to experience the Spain that we love.
The town of Javea lies about 80 km north east of Alicante and 80 km south of Valencia, in between Denia and Altea. You can reach Javea via the road N 332, a wonderful road along the coastline of the Costa Blanca.
Javea is embedded between two bays - the cabo San Antonio (where Montgo mountain reaches the sea) and the cabo San Martin.
The town of Javea is divided into three areas:
The old quarter with the historic Javea Town
The old town of Javea was once a heavily fortified city built to counter the incessant threats from the land and the sea. Over many centuries this instilled a particular way of life and has determined the structure of public and private buildings. It is still predominantly Spanish speaking, the golden colour of Tosca stone dominates the architecture of the town with the spectacular church of San Bartolome at the heart of winding streets within the old town walls, made up of narrow passages and whitewashed facades. A true image of a genuine traditional Spanish town which deserves a visit
The harbour at Javea Port
Aduanas del Mar, a former sailors' quarter that has gradually grown thanks to the raisin trade and fishing, has been transformed over recent years into one of the main tourist centres of the town. The architectural mix, a combination of the modern buildings near the port with the ancient quarters of narrow streets and simple whitewashed fisherman's houses, has become one of the favourite leisure places of the local area.
The centre piece today is the fishermans Church, built in the shape of a boat in celebration of the safe return of fishermen during a storm. The beach is shingle and used mainly by locals that like tranquility as apposed to the hustle and bustle of holiday makers
Javea Arenal beach
Following the road from Javea to the Cape of la Nau one reaches the Arenal beach which is situated in the centre of the bay. This beach is the best known and most visited by bathers, being the only one in the local area formed by sand.
This part of town is known for its extremely busy summer season and this is helped by the high concentration of bars, restaurants and pubs along the beach promenade in which visitors can enjoy the night life.
it is like having 3 towns in one each with their own unique character and apeal.
