Kalkan, once a small fishing village, has lost none of its charm and character with white washed buildings lining the cobbled streets down to the harbour and local beach.
The town is renowned for tits abundance or fine selection of restaurants and eateries with menus to suite every taste and pocket. The most popular are the roof terrace and harbour side restaurants with views and ambiance worth the price of a meal alone.
Those who enjoy shopping will not be disappointed. There is an excellent range of shops offering everything from clothing and jewellery to 'designer' goods and local arts and crafts.
Whilst there is a local beach only ten minutes from the apartment and of course there is Patatra and Kaputas nearby, Kalkan has a host of beach clubs all accessible by free taxi or boat taxi. All offer the choice of total relaxation or for the more energetic, there is water skiing, jet skis or the opportunity of being dragged around behind a boat on something inflatable.
This beautiful Mediterranean area is steeped in history with many Lycian ancient sites of interest including Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, Tlos and Patara within easy reach. The harbour towns of Kas (25 minutes) and Fethyie (1 hour) are well worth a trip. All are accessible, many by organised trips, bus or local car hire which is competitive and easy.
