Bali Villa: Taman Sorga

The majestic large 6-bedroom Bali villa residence known as ‘Taman Sorga’, meaning ‘Heavenly Garden’ is located just a 5-minutes walk from the beach in the historical village of Sanur on Bali’s southeast coast. Resting on 3,600 square metres of land in a magnificent tropical garden, the villa can sleep up to 12 guests and ideally suited for large families or discerning groups of friends looking for space, grandeur, comfort and privacy with close access to the shops, restaurants and beach.

This private holiday accommodation in Sanur has been featured in numerous architectural magazines and books showcasing 'Contemporary Balinese' luxury lifestyle.  The residence is comprised of a main two-storey house, a two-storey guest wing, a living pavilion, a state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen, an indoor/outdoor dining room, a gym, a pool house, and a 17-metre freeform swimming pool.

The main house consists of 2 bedrooms and 1 single bedroom, a wrap-around terrace on the second floor, an open-air living room on the ground level, an office and a wine cellar.  The downstairs, air-conditioned master suite features a 4-poster king-size bed and is equipped with a TV and DVD player.  The en-suite bathroom has a shower.  The upstairs, air-conditioned master bedroom features a pair of queen-size beds, a walk-in closet and a TV and DVD player.  Its en-suite bathroom has a large walk-in shower and a sunken bathtub.  It also features a balcony with gorgeous views of the garden.

The guest wing which is located on the opposite site of the swimming pool can comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests in 3 air-conditioned bedrooms.  The master bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and equipped with a TV and DVD player and surround sound, an iPod dock and a safe deposit box. Its en-suite bathroom has a large Jacuzzi bathtub and a massage shower. The second bedroom has a king-size bed, a dressing area and a bathroom with a massage shower. Additionally, there are 2 twin rooms, both with beds that can be pushed together to make a double bed. Each has an en-suite bathroom with a small tub and a massage shower. All bedrooms are equipped with safes, iPod docks and audio visual facilities.

The air-conditioned studio is a comfortable and casual sitting room that can sleep up to 2 people if required with segmented sofas that can be made up as beds. It is equipped with a TV and DVD player. The adjoining bathroom is fitted with a shower.

The living pavilion is a standalone building and ideal for entertaining.  This grand room features comfortable upholstered sofas and occasional tables. It is equipped with a 42” TV, DVD player and surround sound system and is fitted with glass doors on three sides that can be folded back for open-air living. 

The dining pavilion is linked to the kitchen via a wooden bridge over a fish pond. It is comprised of 2 distinct areas offering guests a choice of 2 very different dining experiences. One is a formal indoor dining room with a table for 12 guests and the other is more casual, al fresco dining with a low antique table for 8 guests.  There is also an additional circular table with four chairs.

The large air-conditioned kitchen is super deluxe, high-tech and professionally equipped for catering for a large number of guests.  It has 2 ovens and 2 hobs with a total of 9 gas burners, as well as wine coolers and a dishwasher. There is a central island, a pantry and a day dining area within the kitchen, which is an ideal place for feeding kids.

The pool house is an open-air pavilion with two sitting areas and a pool shower. It is furnished with daybeds and a washroom with a shower. The second sitting area is on a covered deck under a pitched roof that extends to a pergola roof and features a cane suite with cushions.  The gym is a self-contained building with glass sides, adjoining wash room and shower. It is equipped with air-conditioning, a treadmill, multi-gym and TV. 

The lagoon-style swimming pool weaves around the trees and is traversed by a romantic hump backed bridge and bordered by a stone deck furnished with a table, 6 chairs and an umbrella.

The lawn is large enough for outdoor cocktail parties and receptions. A marquee is available and there is also a barbeque. There is a secure car park at the entrance to the property, as well as a separate staff and service entrance beside the staff house, with access to another road.

This large 6-bedroom Bali villa is situated close to the pretty village of Ketewel on Bali’s southeast coast. The streets of the village are lined with leafy trees; a small intersection is the venue of a fruit and vegetable market, and colourful temple ceremonies are a common sight.

Ketewel village is the origin of the famous Legong Bededari Dance, while the nearby village of Sawa historically produced the finest Legong dancers on the island. The beach of Pabean was once a small port through which oriental traders brought their products; at low tide you can still see the structure of the old harbor and a Chinese cemetery is located nearby. Balinese Hindu purification ceremonies are held beside the ocean at the sacred Pura Segara sea temple and the adjacent reef is renowned for its world-class surf breaks.

The Sanur-Kusumba by-pass from Seminyak to Candi Dasa has made this rural area accessible to the rest of the island and positions the villa within easy driving distance of Bali’s tourist attractions.

This private holiday accommodation in Sanur is just a 40-minute drive to Bali’s international airport, 30 minutes from the cultural capital of Ubud, 10 minutes from Sukawati arts and handicraft market, 10 minutes from Sanur, and 30-45 minutes to restaurants, shops and nightlife of Kuta and Seminyak.
