Bali Villa: Shamira

This stylish and welcoming private Bali rental villa is situated in lush tropical gardens and surrounded by rice fields and farming communities and is located in the peaceful southwest seaside community of Canggu – just a 10-minute stroll to Canggu Beach.  Perfect for extended families or a large group of friends, the villa can sleep up to 14 guests and presents offers various indoor/outdoor living spaces, dining areas and hidden patios making it a true relaxing experience for travelers.

Contemporary tropical Asian influences characterise this short-term holiday accommodation in Canggu.  The residence consists of 3, yellow-hued buildings topped with tiled roofing and furnished with teak, distressed woods, marble and Palimanan stone that face the swimming pool which is surrounded by a large stone deck.

In the main 2-storey building on the ground floor is a large, open-sided living and dining area, a TV room, a kitchen and a bathroom.  On the upper floor, there are 3 bedrooms, an outdoor dining patio and the extra bedroom known as the ‘lumbung’ room.  To the left of the main building stands a 1-storey detached wing aptly named ‘the garden room’ which contains the last bedroom.

All of the 4 stylish main bedrooms are air-conditioned and feature king-size beds.  The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a free-standing bathtub.  There is also a private patio area with rattan furniture.  The second and third bedrooms share a small bathroom with a shower.  The fourth bedroom “the garden room” has an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in rain shower and a stone patio with a table and chairs.  The “Lumbung Room” offers an extra bedroom.  This room (not en-suite) uses the glorious, tropical semi-, open-air bathroom adjacent to the living and dining area which features a sunken stone bathtub and an expansive, open-air tropical rain shower.

The spacious, open-sided living and dining area provides a variety of relaxed and informal living spaces.  Facing the pool, there is a marble-floored dining area with a table for 10 guests, 2 daybeds and a traditional-style seating area.  Adjacent, there is a smaller dining area for more intimate soirees.  Two further dining tables and an antique daybed stacked with white cushions furnish the centre of the living and dining area while, at the far end, is the expansive TV room. Functional in design, this air-conditioned and entirely glass-encased room houses the villa’s only 40”, flat-screen TV.  The room is furnished with white suede couches.  Off the living and dining area is a modern corner kitchen which is fully-fitted.

The garden and pool area has a 6 x 12m swimming pool that dominates the garden to the rear of the villa and there is a generous stone pool deck which is furnished with 5 rattan sun-loungers, 4 woven rattan pod chairs and a large table.

At the other end stands a thatched balé stacked with comfy cushions while along the sides of the villa there is more outside seating.

This private Bali rental villa is located ona small lane straddling two beach roads and just minutes to Canggu Beach on Bali’s southwest coast.  The road to the left (Jalan Batu Balong) takes you to Canggu Beach ‘proper,’ frequented mostly by locals, especially at dusk, and providing simple food outlets.  However, just before you reach the beach, you’ll find the divine Hotel Tugu, one of Bali’s most celebrated hotels, with excellent restaurants and a fascinating and charming bar area.

The road to the right of the villa (Jalan Batu Mejan) leads to nearby Echo Beach which offers a choice of eateries, live music, world-class surf breaks and stunning coastline views.  A circular walk – particularly lovely at sunrise or sunset – takes you along the beach and past an ancient temple built from coral where Hindu ceremonies invariably spill out onto the beach.

Bali’s premier sports and leisure club, the Canggu Club, is close by and offers upscale international-standard dining and leisure facilities.  The island’s most fashionable and cosmopolitan enclave, thetrendy Seminyak area, is just a 25-minute drive from the villa, presenting an exciting nightlife, together with an abundance of boutiques, luxurious spas, and internationally acclaimed restaurants, including the famous Ku de Ta, ‘Kafé Warisan, La Lucciola and Sarong restaurants.

This short-term holiday accommodation in Canggu has easy access to the nearby Nirwana Bali Golf Course which was designed by Greg Norman and voted the best golf course in Indonesia and is also situated close to the dramatic, waved-lashed sea temple of Tanah Lot.

The Bali International Airport is approximately a 55-minute drive depending on the traffic.
