Bali Villa: Puri Bawana

Set in within the natural contours of a hill and close to the beach, this large six bedroom Bali villa is located in the fishing village of Canggu on the southwest coast and offers guests insight into rural Bali traditions while still maintaining easy access to shops and restaurants.  The expansive property (which covers almost 2 acres) was designed by an internationally-acclaimed architect and can accommodate up to 15 guests making it a wonderful option for families or a group of friends looking to enjoy a unique experience or to host a wedding or special occasion in beautiful tropical surroundings.

This spectacular holiday rental in Canggu is comprised of a series of thatched pavilions linked by pergola-covered walkways, housing a remarkable open living pavilion, an elevated dining pavilion, an entertainment room, two kitchens and five bedrooms, complete with an additional children's bunk room which can be used for up to 5 children.

The magnificent living pavilion presides over the property and overlooks the swimming pool, terraced gardens and rice fields.  The space is furnished with two comfortable sofas, ottomans, a daybed and a pair of chairs.

The master suite features glass doors on 3 sides and furnishings include a 4-poster, king-size bed, a couch, a desk, a chair and a flat screen TV with DVD.  There is a balcony with views across the river and the rice terraces beyond and has 2 cushioned daybeds.  The en-suite bathroom a walk-in rain shower and an outside walled garden which features an oversized bathtub and open-air shower.

Suites 2 and 3 are located in the family building.  Suite 2 is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a double bed, while Suite 3 has a king-size bed.  Both suites feature an indoor shower and Suite 2 is complemented by a private garden bathroom with an open-air bathtub.  Suite 3 has an adjoining timber deck with an open-air bathtub beside the water-garden.

Suites 4 and 5 are housed within the two-storey building inside the villa.  Suite 4 is located on the lower level and has a king-size bed and shower.  Its garden bathroom is characterized by an open-air rain shower and an outdoor bathtub.  An external staircase leads up to Suite 5, the only upstairs bedroom at the villa, affording gorgeous views of the rice fields and river valley. The bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed, an indoor shower and an outdoor bathtub and an open-air shower.  A staircase leads down under the dining pavilion to a small ‘spill-over’ room, which can sleep up to 5 children. There is a bathroom next door with a shower.

The open-sided and elevated dining pavilion features a dining table that seats up to 14 guests and is located above the entertainment room.  The entertainment room is equipped a large satellite TV complete with surround sound, a DVD/CD player and a Wii Game System.  It is furnished with two large sofas, two ottomans and a bar.  Glass doors open from this room onto a terrace.

There are 2 fully-equipped kitchens at the villa, a service kitchen and a state-of-the-art central kitchen positioned next to the dining pavilion which is linked by a large service bar.  The central kitchen features a central island, a hob, an oven, a wine fridge and a coffee machine.

The pool and garden area is complete with a 30 metre infinity-edge swimming pool which incorporates a kids’ pool at one end, a pool deck furnished with sun loungers and an open-sided ‘bale’ (relaxation pavilion) positioned within the pool and accessed by stepping stones.  A raised walkway leads to an elevated bale with a thatched roof, open sides and a cushioned floor.

This large six bedroom Bali villa is located in the fishing village of Canggu which is renowned for its world-class surf breaks and rugged beauty. The locality is dotted with some of the most impressive villas on the island and the sweeping view is enhanced on clear days by the magical sight of Bali's mountains.  The location offers easy access up to the mountains and rice terraces on the western slopes of the island; it is 1 hour from the famous cultural and artistic town of Ubud, and just a 20-minute drive to the Sunset Route – the gateway to the eastern side of the island. It is also convenient for all of Bali's shopping malls and main tourist attractions.

The Beach House Restaurant at the nearby Echo Beach is the place where the local community gathers in the evenings to watch the legendary sunsets. A variety of eating areas and tables spill out onto a beachside buff, and live music is complemented by seafood barbeques.

The trendy Seminyak area, with its wide choice of international restaurants including the famous Ku de Ta, Kafe Warisan, La Lucciola, together with a plethora of chic cocktail bars, exciting nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant boutiques, is a mere 25 to 35 minutes drive away depending on traffic conditions.

This holiday rental in Canggu is a member of Bali’s premier sports and leisure club, the Canggu Club which offers upscale international-standard dining and leisure facilities including a state-of-the art gym, an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a tennis & squash centre.

The nearby Nirwana Bali Golf Course which was designed by Greg Norman was voted the top golf course in Asia; it is situated beside the dramatic, waved-lashed sea temple of Tanah Lot. For horse lovers, the 'Umalas Equestrian Centre' is just a few kilometeres away.

The Hotel Tugu is situated a short walk away beside Canggu Beach and is a living museum of priceless antiques and rare cultural artifacts related to Bali's history.  It also offers fine dining and a delightful spa.
