Bed & Breakfast Description

This Algarve Bed & Breakfast, O Pequeno Castelo - the Little Castle, offers those who wish to avoid mass-tourism and “all inclusive”, B&B in comfortable double rooms and well appointed self-catering apartments off the beaten track in the natural reserve of Ria Formosa, Eastern Algarve. You will find us on the sunny side of a secluded valley, only ten minutes by car from the beautiful, unspoiled sandy beach of Pedras d´el Rei and 4 miles from the picturesque town of Tavira.

Santo Estevão (Saint Stephen), a typical Algarvian village is only about one mile or a fifteen minute walk along orchards of carobs, figs, oranges, almonds and olives. In the village you will find a small but very good restaurant, coffee shops, mini-markets, post-office, chemist and cash point.

We are happy to share our knowledge of the region with our guests and to provide them with all necessary information to make their own individual holiday a success.

The Bed & Breakfast in the Algarve offers you two big double rooms (20 m2) “Don” and “Casablanca”. Both with access to a terrace with ample space and views to the swimming pool and the surrounding hills. Both rooms share a bathroom in the tower. Our well-furnished and air-conditioned apartments “Atlantico” and “Romantica” comprise bedroom (big double bed and raised bed suitable for 1 - 2 children), shower room, living room with fully equipped kitchen and private terrace.

Our swimming pool with sun beds and umbrellas is open to all our guests. Evening Meals (Regional and international cuisine, vegetarian and vegan) on request.

About The Algarve Tavira

Discover the Eastern Algarve with its all year round warm climate where temperatures even in winter never drop below 14 C and most days you will be able to go for long walks or to sunbathe on one of the long sandy beaches. In summer however the temperature may reach 28 - 30 C, in July and August even higher and you will enjoy the clean water of the Atlantic in Europe’s unique natural reserve, Ria Formosa, where you will be able to practise a great variety of water sports as well.

Tavira, the most exquisite town on the south coast and one of the loveliest in Portugal is worth more then one visit. The medieval arcades, graceful cloisters and ancient walls of Tavira´s mansions, castle, churches and monasteries frame handsome piazzas. Coming across the seven arched roman bridge you may wonder how Tavira has kept its back firmly against the tide of modern development.

If ever the lure of the ocean dulls you will find that the wooded hills of the serra behind Tavira with its picturesque little villages offer beautiful and unspoilt terrain for exploring and walking. Small restaurants invite to get to know the typical dishes of the region and its excellent wines.
